Article Marketing Tips – 3 Strategies

You will find many forum threads where discussions on article marketing tips become quite heated. There are usually three distinct groups involved in the debate.

There will almost invariably be one group that maintains you should only ever submit 100% unique articles to each online article directory. Therefore, if you want to get links from ten article directories, you will need to write and submit ten separate articles.

There will normally be a second group who will say that level of work is unnecessary and you should just submit the same article to all ten of the article directories.

Another group will tell you that article marketing should be done by using software to spin versions of a single article which should then be submitted to the directories. This group of marketers will also tell you that there is no need to concentrate on getting your articles into the top article directories, and you should use an article submitter to submit your articles to hundreds of directories.

Which of these article marketing tips is correct?

In fact, there is something to be said in favour of each of them, and there are internet marketers making money through article marketing using one of the three tips above. The article marketing strategy you prefer will depend upon what sort of marketing you intend to do.

If you want to build a presence online and become known as an expert in a particular field, the first strategy would be best for you. This way of using article marketing will take up more of your time as it involves the most work, but it will give great rewards in the long run. If you write solid informative articles, they will be republished on other websites in your niche and the resource box attached to the article will mean your site receives the benefit of links from those websites as well as from the article directories.

The second strategy would also work in much the same way. There is a possible drawback in that the prominent article directories might decide to drop articles that they find duplicated elsewhere online. From the point of view of search engine listing, you should only expect Google to list one of the articles and ignore the other nine duplicates.  The results will probably not be quite as good as you would get with the first strategy, but the time spent writing articles would be cut down dramatically.

The third method might get you links to your website, but they will be low quality. Mass spun articles won’t normally get into the important article directories, as their quality tends to be so poor. You wouldn’t want your real name associated with them either. So this strategy won’t help you to build a presence or brand your website as an authority site.

Which article marketing tip would I choose from these three?

None of the above! I believe that writing unique website content and submitting unique high quality articles is the best way to do article marketing. Embracing the more automated strategies seemed like a viable option at one time. However, the changes in the way Google assesses website content has made it obvious that content is still king. Writing and rewriting articles can be fairly time consuming, but the results make it worthwhile investing the time. Using tricks to broadcast rubbishy articles all over the internet might pay off in the short term, but you won’t make money using these tricks in the long term.

It will probably not be too long before we see more big changes in the way Google works (and remember where Google leads the other search engines will follow). In the near future websites containing worthless content (and this definitely includes nasty spun articles) are going to sink into oblivion.

The best article marketing tip is to “keep it real”. The internet needs real authors writing articles to be read by real people. Meaningless strings of words won’t pass as valid content for much longer. Big changes are on the way and their affects have already started to appear.
